EASTERN CAPE CULTURAL EXPERIENCES

Eastern Cape Cultural Experiences is a unique and authentic experience of living with the Xhosa People in different villages of the Eastern Cape, cooking with them and staying with them in their living villages.
Eastern Cape is the second biggest Province in South Africa where the majority of people are Xhosa speaking. Most of the land is occupied by rural villages where most of these communities still leave in their mud houses. This tour is designed for guests who want to spend time with these rural communities and learn about Xhosa Culture and traditions. You will enjoy traditional meals and also learn how to cook and how to make your own beads.

Itinerary

DAY 1

EAST LONDON TO QUNU Via ICAMAGU INSTITUTE

Pick up from East London and drive to Qunu, (Nelson Mandela's Village) with a stop at Icamagu Institute for an introduction on Xhosa Culture and traditions. From Icamagu Institute we will travel to Qunu village where we will spend a night at the village home stay with dinner with the locals. 

DAY 2

QUNU TO COFFEE BAY

After breakfast, we will have a beadwork workshop with village women then later village guide will take you to the Nelson Mandela Youth and Heritage centre where you will visit the site of the first school of Nelson Mandela and the sliding stone where Nelson Mandela used to play as a young Boy. From Qunu we will drive to Nelson Mandela Museum and later drive to Coffee Bay. Check in at your lodge and later go for a village dinner and later back to the lodge.

DAY3

COFFEE BAY TO HOLE IN THE WALL

On this day we will take a hike from Coffee Bay to Hole In The Wall. For those who are not feet to walk we will take them with a vehicle. At Hole In The Wall you will also have time to swim. From Hole In The Wall we will drive back to Coffee Bay and free time for the afternoon.

DAY 4

COFFEE BAY TO BULUNGULA COMMUNITY LODGE

This day we will travel to the village of Nqileni where we will hosted at Bulungula Community Lodge. After lunch we will visit village Herbalist to learn about Traditional Herbs and later back to the lodge.

DAY 5

FULL DAY BULUNGULA

This day we will spend doing activities in the village. We will all join Women Power to learn more about day to day village life. Guests can also do their own activities and pay direct to the village guides.

DAY6

BULUNGULA TO CINTSA

This day we will travel from Bulungula to Cintsa via Kei Mouth crossing Kei River on a Ferry with a stop at Morgan bay Cliff with refreshments at The Deck and later check in at Buccaneers Lodge on The Beach.

DAY 7

TRANSFER TO THE AIRPORT

Transfer to King Phalo Airport
